Repairing a bent stabilizer jack.

Probably over a year ago I bent one side of my rear stabilizer jacks. At first it wasn't too bad, but now it's just shot. Lipert does not sell just one leg. You have to buy the entire assembly. Today I'm going to tackle taking it apart and seeing if I can have a leg fabricated or if I can reinforce the one I have. Has anyone ever tried to fix one of these? If it ends up being too much of a pain or too expensive I'm installing manual stabilizer jacks. I carry a battery drill with me all the time anyway.

As long as the jack screw isn't damaged, I'd remove the leg and reinforce with a length of angle iron, maybe two. You might have to drill out a few holes to secure.

How did it bend you say. Well thats a good question. The same as many RV problems. Trying to get out of a site quick. I did not do my walk around and raised the tongue jack and bent one side of the stabilizer jack. Good thing I've never done it again.

Yes, that will do it. You had me stumped there for a minurte, wondering what could bend one of these.
A lesson we could have learned from, or have already learned from!

Thanks for answering that question regarding the cause. I'm always cautious about putting stabilizers down too hard. I often feel that I do not put down enough. Not sure what pressure is correct. I still get bounce in trailer. Have kit bought X-Chalks yet.
