I like that. It's always bugged me that I had to open the door to see who was knocking.
Ted,where did you pick up the window?

You can google RV Thin Shade or I ordered mine from eBay. $86.99. Here’s a good video of the installation and product. https://youtu.be/r5jsOofrsrM

I changed ours out also. Easy to change out. We really like it, we can see who's knocking at the door plus with the shade down it keeps the early morning sun out if a person wants to sleep in.

I changed mine about a month ago. This last weekend was the first time out since I installed it. I really like mine.

I have been wanting to change mine out also, but I think I will wait till later in the fall or next spring.
Couple things that bother me is there is 2 different windows. One is the thin shade, the other is the slim shade. Sounds like the thin shade is maybe for older rigs?

Then, my window measurements are a little different. I have 12X21 I.S.

and 15 3/4X 24 3/4 O.S.
So I'm just not sure how big a hole they cut in the door.

Lloyd, it is my understanding that AP Products had to change the name from Slim Shade to Thin Shade because of a patent name issue. They are the same window.

Lloyd; my old window measures the same as yours. I ordered Thin Shade AP 015-201512 with tinted glass to match my other windows. Perfect fit.

Oliver; did you get the thin shade or the slim shade?

I see on Amazon the thin shade is a Lippert product. #806621
they also have the slim shade which is the AP Product #015-201512

Lloyd; just looked up my past orders on Amazon. I ordered an AP Products 015-201512 Slim Shade. I recieved an (box says) AP Products 015-201512 Thin Shade. How's that for confusing. I believe they are identical except for the name. It states patent pending on the Thin Shade box. (see post#10)

AP Products are in Coldwater Michigan about 25 minutes from me, next time over that way I'll stop in an ask them about the product name confusion.

I bought the Lippert Thin Shade from Amazon. My original window frame was a screw-in frame. If you have the snap-in frame you need the release clips to remove the original. The Lippert window comes with the clips, but I understand you have to purchase them separately with the AP Products window.

Very nice! I am ordering one for my Sunset Trail.

A couple of questions though -

- The difference between the Lippert and the AP product is snap-in or screw. Have you had any issues with the snap-in? Which would you recommend? My current entry door window has the 16 screws.

- Does the window kit come enough sealant? Or, do you add more? If you add more, what would you recommend?

Thanks!!

From what I understand, the original equipment Lippert frosted windows came in either screw-in (mine was) or snap-in. The Lippert replacement Thin Shade is a snap-in. There is no sealant needed. The installation is easier with 2 people, but I was able to install mine alone.

Was your new window the snap in type, or did it use the screws like your old window?

On my 5er the original window as the screw on type. The shade was the snap in kind. It also comes with plastic pieces to use to remove or unsnap yours; if your window is the snap in kind. Like Davisk stated, your not supposed to need sealant around the window. However, I did run a small clear bead around mine just to make me feel better. Also, when I removed my original window I found out that the factory had used one screw that was a different size (to big) for the window hole and had busted the one hole.

Lioyd; my original Lippert frosted window had 16 screws just like the new Thin Shade has.

The new window came with a pre-applied bead of sealant on the outside window frame that seals to the door. There is also a pre-applied bead of sealant that seals the window glass to the inside of the outside window frame. No extra sealant needed.

It comes with good installation directions. One extra thing I did was used some pieces of Gorilla tape to help hold the plastic shade mechanism in place for added strength, probably not necessary, but that's just me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Oliver and Papa-T.

I've got a pretty clear picture of it now. I just didn't want the hassle of returning it if it wasn't going to work /fit my door.
