Suggestions for TV Mod

As you can see by the pictures my 06 26RK has the TV Cabinet, I am wanting to replace the old flat screen tube TV with a LED. I want to cut out 7 1/2 inches from the right side and reinforce the vertical area. Reinforce the the back and install a swivel/extendable wall mount. What do y'all think?

I would consider keeping the cabinet original, and look into a swivel mount that has a quick disconnect, and let the flatscreen hang outside of the cabinet. You are going to want to angle it anyway to get the best viewing. The swivel mount that came with our 09 cruiser has that quick disconnect feature. We always take our flatscreen down and rest it on the couch when we travel.

I had thought about that. I am a visual type and need to see how this would mount and give me enough extension to clear the front of the cabinet to be able to swivel the TV enough to the right so I can see it while I am sitting down.
The cabinet is 18" deep and I would need to swivel it 7 1/2 inches to the right for the correct angle. I have not seen a mount that will extend 25 inches out.

Here are your pictures.
I would be more inclined to look for a TV mount that is an articulating arm. My DW would have issues with me cutting the opening.

Thank you George.... I have no DW.... but I agree... I did find one articulating arm that extended 25 inches. I am going to do some more measuring to see if that will will work. I will be installing a 32" flat screen. In the back of the cabinet there is a stud that in the middle and studs on each corner of the cabinet so I am going to add a 1" thick piece of wood to fit the back of the cabinet for support.

I agree with Jererp.

I would buy a piece of plywood to fill the hole where the original TV was, put the plywood on hindges, so it would act like a door giving you storage area behind the new LED TV. Then mount the LED to the plywood with a mount that extendes and swivels. That way you could use a larger TV, and gain some storage space at the same time. IMHO.

That's what I was planing on doing when I owned my 30SK, but traded the camper.
