Tail/Brake/Turn Signal Light Assembly Upgrade to LED

I want to upgrade my tail light assembly to LED. I think it would be best to change the whole assembly as opposed to just swapping bulbs. Can anyone recommend a product and source? I'm fairly handy and I think this should be an easy DIY project. Thanks

I swapped mine out for a kit I purchased on-line. It sits on the outside of the rig and is about 8"X 4" X 3" deep. It has a side running light and one has a clear lens on the bottom to illuminate the license plate. I don't remember the brand but it has worked well for 3-4 years now. I will have to look tomorrow for the paperwork and will post more.

I can see the benefit of changing out the lamps inside the unit, but I don't see any benefit of changing the trailer lights. What gives?

I had problems with the bulb contacts rusting and loosing connections. Gave up cleaning several times a year and ordered a upgrade LED kit from Command Electronics.

I did the same thing, for the same reasons.

In addition to the corrosion issue already noted, LED lights are brighter and draw attention better

As a follow up....I got the Optronics TLL-16RK kit. Weather proof and works well. I swapped it out primarily for the rusty contacts and brightness issues.

Thanks guys. The Command electronics kit is exactly what I need. One more question.....can the clearance lights be upgraded with a simple bulb swap since you don't have to worry about the blinking capability for the turn signal?

Yes the clearance lights can be upgraded, but make sure you get very short bulbs.
