Tires for 2012 Sunset Trail 26BH?

I need new tires for my 2012 Sunset Reserve 26BH and thinking about moving from the 205 D rated tires currently on it to 225 E rated tires. I cannot seem to find out if that is doable on this trailer. Dealer said I “should” be able to but wasn’t certain. Tire place said they would have to look at the trailer. Can’t seem to find info anywhere else online.

Has anyone else with this model put the 225 E rated tires on it? If you did - did you have to get new wheels or will the tires fit on the current rims? Did you notice any better stability or handling? Thanks!

If you contact DavisK, he switched tires and rims. He has the info.

The specs for a 2012 ST26BH tire.

205/75 R14C
So if you have the D on there now, it's already more then what came from the factory.

Dry Weight
5,760 lbs.
GVWR
7,726 lbs.

If you do go with the E tire, I would think you wouldn't have to run them at the 80 psi that is stated on the sidewall. It would be to hard and just pound the trailer.

I don't know who the dealer is you contacted, but go to a reputable GoodYear dealer and talk with them. They should be able to tell if your present rims will work with the E tire, or if you will need new rims.

I switched to E rated Goodyear Endurance tires on my 2013 ST29SS without having to change the rims but they did install high pressure valve stems

205 D rated to 225 E rated

I just bought some 205 D rated tires for my 2014 sunset trail 27bh. I was going to get the 225 E rated but was told that the over all height of the tire would be 1.5 inches larger and to check the clearance between the frame and the tire. I only have barely over 3” so the movement was too close for my comfort so I stuck with 205 75 25 Goodyear endurance. Good luck
