Does anybody know of a tonneau/box cover, that is even with the top of the bed rails? I suppose the mounting hardware would have to mount on the inside of the box rails.
I would like to put something on, but am hesitant on losing the clearance between the 5er and the truck.

Lloyd,

As I recall, most of the roll-up covers are flush with the top rail. Some can be opened to any spot. But they do take up bed space. Yrs ago I used a Fold-A-Cover, it fit on top of the rails and was about 3/4 inch tall. And when folded forward, it was about 2-1/2 inches above the rail. Never had a problem with the reduced clearance when turning with the fiver, but it would have been very ez to mess things up in the wrong situation.

Thanks Larry
I had the access cover on my last truck, and I believe there was a couple in. sticking above the sides. I don't have the luxury of that much clearance on the new truck. Been doing some searching today and ran across this one.

It seems pretty pricey. Anybody know anything about it?

Pace Edwards, RollBak (BakLiner) and Roll-N-Lock make a hard roll up cover thats flush, but you do lose some space for the canister at the front of the bed. Anything from Bakliner is pricey. I don't know if they are worth the extra $$. I know up here in the great white north I priced a RollBak and P-E and the P-E at almost $1000 was still about $500 cheaper--for an 8ft box.
That Roll-x that you are referring to is fairly new. I have yet to see one installed.

Mark, do you have this cover on your F150? Looks like it may be affected by the 5th wheel hitch in bed? Also looks like it would engage any thing stored in front of the hitch. Have you encountered that? Thanks.

Lloyd. They have improved the rollup type covers. Most are flush with rails, They claim to be weatherproof, most fasten with some form of hook and loop, not sure about longevity. They do afford a good look at you hitch when hooking up. Lastly they are the most reasonably priced

No, I don't have it but I was interested. It does look like it would hit the hitch or anything behind it. Time to look on line again.

I have the rollback on my truck and love it. About 90% rain proof. Only leaks at the tailgate corners. Very flat. I loose about 12" right behind the back window for the storage canister. What I really like is I can lock my tailgate and feel pretty secure putting things under it when not actually towing the fiver. It also covers the hitch when it is installed (just made a mod to the handle to lower it). Highly recommend it.

Hi Stan. What brand did you choose? Did you cut your handle or flip it upside down?

Socoguy, mine is a Rollbak from Bak industries. I've had it now for about 18 months. I paid $850.00 shipped to my door for my 6.5' bed Silverado. On the hitch arm, I cut about 2" off the mounting end and redrilled a new hole so I could rotate it 90 dgs to make it lower than the cover. Hitch arm still works fine and the handle is now actually easier to reach.

Hi everyone! First post here, didn't see a introduction area.

I currently have a Fold-a-Cover on my Silverado, Love it! Plenty of clearance for my 5th wheel without having to remove the cover.

My third truck with the Truxedo LoPro QT. Highly recommend. I wouldn't use anything else. Simple design and easy to use. I wouldn't have bought three if I didn't think it was of great quality. Low profile, cover is quality material, fast to roll up or close, and can be completely removed in seconds...literally, it takes less than a minute to remove the cover completely. Secure when tilgate locked but the only thing is it is easy to walk away with the cover when rolled up...however I have never had any issues with that. Security wise, out of sight out of mind, never had anyone try to steal anything from under it when closed. None are completely waterproof but thy keep most of the elements out. No freeze ups in winter and keeps snow out of the bed. First cover I had years ago was a Roll-nLock and half the time I couldn't open or close it in the winter.

Do not buy the Truxedo Deuce - tried it for one week, walked into the dealer as it had flipped open 3 times on the highway at 70mph - said I wanted a refund - he gave me a wrench and I removed the Deuce in the parking lot and handed them all the parts and left with my LoPro QT with refunded price difference in hand.

I always close the cover to keep the fifth wheel hitch dry and out of sight when unhooked from the fiver.

Lloyd. I have the Extang tri-fold on my truck. Good quality, easy to use, vinyl cover. Nothing to bolt down the cover has 4 handles that hold down under the bed rails. Itis about 1 1/4 inches thick. Extang trifecta.
About $450 as I recall.

I've had a Fold-a-Cover for about 10 years and it's still going strong. There areno clearance issues with itwhen you are towing a 5vr. It is not totally waterproof but it's rugged and can take abuse that the others would never handle.

I have the Bakflip F1 on my truck. It works great and it folds up when I'm towing. When you're not hooked up, it covers the hitch completely. It is not completely waterproof, there are a few wet spots near the tailgate but nothing bad. It does fit flush and looks great when closed.

X2 to what Stan said, my dealer set my Reese 16K up so the handle was down, and didn't interfere with closing the cover and as Stan said it does roll right over the hitch

We have a Ranch Sportwrap Tonneau Cover that we ordered fromhttp://www.autoanything.com.</span>

It is painted to match exactly to your factory paint. There are latches on each back side with one central lock. We think it looks great and is very easy to use with the lift-assist arms.

BTW, when you are on line, a "specialist" will pop up to chat. Ask about their discounts. Recall that we got an additional 10% off. Let them know that you were referred. Never hurts to ask.
