Not sure if I'm posting in the correct place because this is not about a mod but a notice. We went to San Antonio over the holidays and once we got to the campground, I was outside the trailer getting it set up. Shari was inside the trailer opening slides and other things. Once I finished outside, I went inside to turn on the electricity to the water heater and noticed Shari had already turned it on. It could not have been on for more than 3 minutes. It burned the heating element up. I bought a new one and it had a big red warning label on it that warned not to turn it on unless the water heater has water in it because it would burn up in less than 1 minute. Live and Learn.

Sure blame Shari for something we know was your fault.

You can buy replacement heating elements at most hardware stores. A lot cheaper than an RV dealer. They also sell a cheap removal tool.

They might be cheaper, but if water heater is under warranty, warranty will be voided if aftermarket coil is used.

Hal if Shari sees this post it will cost you a lot more than a new element

Can't think of too many people I'd rather stay up all night with.

Sorry George, I thought we were talking about replacing the element after the warranty period. By all means if it were in the warranty period I would have it replaced by the dealer.
