What do you do to keep birds from your pin box?

I have had bird nests in my pin box before. I tried Styrofoam blocks wedged in the openings. They worked for a little while, but they deteriorated and fell out. This Spring I noticed a bird flying to my pin box frequently, so I went to investigate. I poked my head under the front of the 5th wheel and looked into the pin box opening. There was a bird staring back, but I scared it and it flew away and didn't come back.

I went in and searched for a solution on Amazon. I found these, OFFO Bird Spikes, on the "Lightning Deals" page. I bought them and installed them. I haven't seen any birds around the pin box since.

Here are a couple of photos of them in place.

I have had the same problem, that looks like a great solution. Thanks for sharing it!

I have had good luck putting a rubber snake in there. Birds go in but do not stay.

That is also a great idea, seen rubber snake on a dock and asked what it was for and told it keeps the geese from pooping on dock.

No seriously, I think if I were you I would try a rubber snake or make me a cover with elastic that would snugly fit covering the opening. I guess I don’t think about things like that since mines inside an enclosed building.

Bird Nest

Since I'm a snow bird and use my 5th wheel when we head for Florida, I just let them raise their family. They are already down south in the fall before we leave to follow them.

Thought you took a photo of my pin box with the exact same level I have on mine. LOL
