Z1 TD Mods, slowly crossing off the list!

This Brand new trailer was great but I kind of like things a certain way!

First things, Dual 6v battery's and box, battery cut off switch, electric tongue jack.

The factory stabilizer jacks did NOT touch the ground at full extension! Crossroads politely said "just carry some boards with you". This trailer is much higher than a regular Z1 because of the deck but really? So I decided on BAL C style jacks that at 3/4 out touch perfectly. ridiculous that I had to spend money like that on a Brand new trailer but..

Next LED's inside and out here is the outside lights, also notice the updated Led Security light, very handy. not shown also were two led reading lights added to the bedroom side walls and two cargo lights in the front storage area.

I also have done the backsplash (wip) and have gutted the inaccessible pantry shelf in exchange for two beautiful slide out racks!

Also this week I replaced the crappy roof vent with a Fantastic FAN top of the line one with remote and rain sensor! nice addition

More to come but you can only post so many pictures at a a time!
Best Regards,
Ron

We've got a Z-1, and those all look great. I'm doing the electric tongue jack tomorrow, if UPS tracking is correct. The Z-1 has a low clearance because of the way the tongue is welded under the main frame. Was that an issue for you? How close to the pavement does the tongue jack get when fully retracted. Great work on the other stuff!

Tongue Jack clearance

I did not have any issues as you can see I actually have to use spacers to get the tongue high enough to engage the hitch when hooking up. at present its about 1/2 way retracted as seen in the pictures.
the jack will raise almost completely tucked under so you should be ok. I seem to have the opposite problem?

oh ya here is the backsplash, we are going to do one more row I think after looking at the previous post using the same tiles I think it will look better taller?

Got the tongue jack on today, no problem, and a good fit. Actually, it rides even a little higher than the crank jack. Just above the WD hitch bars. Sure makes the livin' a lot more easy! BTW, backsplash looks great!

Ron, the first two pictures show what appear to be two different battery cutoff switches. Did you have two versions?

They are a brand called REV A SHELF, I got it from Amazon but Lowes carries them as well. they were 78 bucks for the whole setup, they have wider ones as well but I chose them because they fit right in that cubby with no further modifications! they are very strong and heavy duty ball bearing sliders. super nice!

MODS continued.. a/c Inverter built in MOD

I purchased a pure sine wave 1000w inverter to use with my trailer but really did not like the Idea of Plugging it in or having only one ac plug available. I searched the Interwebs and found this idea using a 6 pole switch to divert the ac from the shore power cable to the converter box.
In position one the Rv works normal and only has power when the Unit is plugged in to a outside post.
IN position two the power is switched to the output of the Inverter and isolates the outside plug so as as to not feedback power to it while it is not connected, AS WELL simultaneously disconnecting the RV charger for the batteries, the Air con and the Microwave so they are not accidently turned on while using the inverter. the entire rest of the trailer had a/c power at all the plugs
(Position 0 is both off)
As well I moved the factory battery charger to the inside back of the converter box and fit the inverter right into the box!
It works great and eliminates the need for a automatic changeover switch which are expensive and draw power to work.

I like that idea. What was the cost of such a unit and how hard was install?

Nice work, great idea! Innovative mounting, too. I would really appreciate a wiring diagram, even if only hand-drawn. I'm especially curious how you wired the switch.

RONSTAR, an afterthought and another question, please. In addition to the air con and the microwave, I would think the elect feed for the water heater should be "shore power only." Maybe you did it, and didn't mention it. Question: Any problem routing Inverter output through the GFCI's? Do they function and test ok?

Yes I was going to kill the power to that too but crossroads in their infinite wisdom wired it in the circuit that connects to 1/2 the wall plugs in the front end of the trailer! so I left that one live. I will basically never use the electric heater because we always dry camp. I though about pulling the switch housing off and pulling the power wire off and taping it up.
I never get why these guys are so cheap sometimes, they have 10 ac circuit breaker spots but only use 5 and double connect so many unrelated items. other than ripping the interior out and completely rewiring it I had to sacrifice that one item.

Also the GFI circuit worked fine no tripping using the inverter. LUCKY!

Here is where I first saw it over on the forest river forum. I Used a similar setup except I put my inverter right there instead of closer to the batteries like this guy did. I didn't like the ugly box so I found a switch that I could mount directly through the factory panel . I got the switch from china source for 20 bucks!
