Has anyone installed a TANK HEATER?

Has anyone installed a TANK HEATER on the black tank, or monitored belly temperatures?
My concern is protecting the black water gate valve and possibly the fresh water tank. All tanks and gate valves are enclosed in the underbelly and we do have the polar-tech insulation package.

Last year we survived 8º by:
· Heating the basement with 2 thermostatically controlled 60 watt light bulbs.
· Running a 700 watt electric space heater.
· Running a 1500 watt electric space heater on a separate circuit.
· Running the RV furnace.
· Water running through both grey water tanks.
· Running the RV water heater.

Dave, what did you do with all the moisture/condensation inside the trailer?
You must have accumulated a bunch in those temperatures.
I would think you pretty well covered the freezing potential for the tanks with that setup.

moisture

Lloyd,
Cold snaps don’t last long up here but moisture is indeed a problem. So, to combat moisture we keep the bathroom and bedroom ceiling vent cracked open, we run the ceiling fan and keep the day shades pulled down. As soon as there is nice weather the windows and doors are opened to dry the place out. The humidity here is usually in the 30% to 40% area and things dry out quickly.

cold weather

We have experienced those temps in winter time in the Az mountains. We travel in a Kingston with the polar tech package. We usually leave a faucet run to keep the fresh water line from freezing. leave grey valve open. We keep the living area warm with the furnace, this seems to keep the basement and tanks above freezing as we have never experienced any problems. Moisture never a problem in the desert. Olcatonr

Would not help me as it gets colder than -40 here in the winter. I put antifreeze in all lines and make sure water heater is drained and by passed . The rest of the tanks are drained before winterizing. I don't camp in cold weather. If I went south for he winter I would stay winterized until I got to warmer weather.
