12v Fridge Questions

This is my first camper with a 12v refrigerator so can anyone give me some info on them while towing. How long will it run on the battery while towing or will ir run at all? Not sure if the alternator on my truck charges that battery or not so any info there will be appreciated.

That would depend on your battery size -- Amp/hour rating. Did a quick Google search and found anywhere from 12 to 50 hours. Also if your truck charges the camper battery it will extend the time. But it would not keep the battery at full charge with the refrigerator running just slow the discharge. Do you have the manual that came with the refrigerator? It may show the draw.

I do have the manual just have not had time to do much research. My last truck did not charge the battery on my trailer I tow my tractor with but I don’t know if this one is wired to charge or not.

I just have a short 2hr tow tomorrow for a maiden voyage so it should be good. Will read up on it when I have time.

Thanks for the reply.

Whether or not your truck powers the trailer is up to the truck. Need to know what you have there.

In my truck, I needed to add a fuse to get the power to the trailer.

I have a 2021 F-350. Is there any way to test it at the plug?

Yep.

Here is a pretty good diagram.

I've got an '07 F350 and just needed to add the fuse.

With my truck, power only goes to the plug when it's running.

Thanks for the diagram. I will assume the aux power is the one to charge the battery. I’ll do some investigating on the plug and fuse box to see what I have right now and go from there. Thanks for your help.
