I have a Crossroads Cruiser that I purchased new in 2009. The staples underneath the roof where it rolls over the sides have come loose on both sides causing the sub-roof to rise and the rubber to have large loose areas. I took it for service. They said it needed to be repaired and should be repaired under warranty. After two attempts to get Crossroads to take care of the problem, they continue to refuse.

The latest response from Bill Hodge, Customer Service Tech, at Crossroads: "Your unit was manufactured with a two year limited warranty, beginning on the date of retail delivery. It has been our experience that any defectswill become evident during the first two years of use and our limited warranty covers the repair and/or replacement of manufacturing defects found during that time."

Am I mistaken? Does the warranty for 2009 Cruiser not state that the roof and structure of the Cruiser are covered for 5 years? This is a 3 year old fifth wheel that has been kept under a custom built shelter. It has been inspected yearly. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.

I could use some advice on repairing this. I have been told that it can be repaired without replacing the entire rubber roof. This would be done by pulling the roof up on the sides, repairing the problem, and then basically patching the roof using strips of rubber down both sides. Any thoughts on this?

Personally I think it should be covered since there is no way you could have done anything to make the staples pull out. The roof is covered for 10 years by the manuafacturer but that is only for the membrane EPDM itself. The key here is what is structural to be covered for 5 years. The alum frame certainly is but staples??? You might try talking to Randy at CR.

I'd call Randy too, I'd say the roof structure moving and making the staples "pop" from the flashing seems like an issue to me.... I'd argue it's under the 5 year warranty to the next person up the chain or call Randy as suggested.

The roof has a 12 year warranty, as long as you had it inspected every yea. It so states in their brochure

We have already spoken to Randy who initially agreed that it should be covered under Warranty but his superiors disagreed.

I'm surprised Crossroads won't take care of this I also have an 09 and I was getting air under the rubber roof causing a big air bubble up front and they offered to fix it for free it I brought it to the factory or pay half if I took it to my local dealer to get fixed. So I took it to the dealer and I had a check from Crossroads a week or 2 later.

Good luck

Sorry to hear about
Crossroads not working with you. I was also under the impression the 5 years
covered the entire structure. Specially as you had annual inspections
as described in the warranty. Since Randy was vetoed, I guess what was then is
not now? Perhaps you need to go higher than Randy's superto hear your case toget it fixed under warranty.

I would hope that the roof membrane could be lifted away without cutting it to
expose the bad staples for repair. I had my side walls re-skinned twice and I
saw where the roof membrane was peeled back and then reapplied with no damage.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /></span>

I'm not saying this will work but when you have run out of ideas, "why not?" Consider writing to the help line in Trailer Life Magazine...they take your problem to the top for you...it may or may not work...but in this case...I think you are more than justified...it should be covered by the factory. Airing this in public sometimes makes the "ethics" come out of the factories. What that means is they don't like the negative publicity. And, right now I don't think CR's needs any more negativism being sent their way. JMHO.
