I'm happy to report we have our new CF31RK. We are very pleased so far. I am sorely disappointed that Crossroads forgot to install the remote control option I ordered. I am being refunded, but like a spoiled child, I wanted my remote. I also feel insulted because I was told it was "impossible" to install after the unit was built. I know this is incorrect because I have a family member with an older model that he built and installed his own 12 function remote. I just really wanted the remote setup Crossroads was offering these days, and wanted to save myself some work. I even asked for them to ship me the components so I could install it myself, and was denied with "impossible".

Does anyone here have the new remote system that can share what module may have been used so I can hunt all this down myself?

EDIT:

So it looks like this might be what Crossroads used:

http://manuals.heartlandowners.org/Electronics/Rmt_Control/Lippert/Lippert_Remote_Control_Instructions.pdf

Seeing this reallyaggravates me because I know for a fact that I can install that unit myself. With all the good reports i've seen here about Crossroads shipping stuff to people, I don't understand why they wouldn't send me what I asked for instead of chunking a cash refund back at me. I know, this assumes that Crossroads and not the dealer is sending the refund.

I asked about installing one in mine and the factory tech told me that the wiring is different and the trailer would need major rewiring to install one.

Therein lies the rub for me. Difficult, perhaps (difficulty is subjective). "Impossible", I don't think so.

Personally if I ordered an option and the trailer was delivered without it I would not accept it without what I ordered. Once you sign the papers and drive it off the lot it is yours with what it was built with. It sounds like not having this option you ordered is making you unhappy with the trailer and it also sounds like it is going to be a big expense to have it added now after the fact.

Yes, you are correct. I did bring this up at the dealer, and was assured that Crossroads agreed to send the remote system to me, so Inaively believed what I was told thinking all would be well since they were shipping the system to me. I wasn't told until today they definitely were not sending the remote system. I took delivery on the first of this month. I'm sure i'll get over it in time, and like I said, I can fabricate a system myself. I just wanted it they way I ordered it in the beginning. I would be much happier if Crossroads wouldaccommodate my request since I'm not sure if the Lippert remote systems are available to the public.

I agree about wiring being the problem. On my 32MK, I removed an access panel inside one of the overhead cabinets and there is a massive amount of wires running from the module to each of the individual components, 3 slide-outs, the awning, rear stabilizers and the scare lights. I'm a retired electrical engineer and this is not a job I would want to do on my camper.

I appreciate the good discussion. Can anyone confirm my findings in the edit to my first post about the module Crossroads uses? At this point, I am assuming it is a Lippert unit. If anyone can confirm this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks hhh. I had seen the video, and the picture you found does confirm that is the unit they are using. I called Lippert today, and while reluctant at first, they did give me a part number and price on the wireless system. It was $66 more than what the dealer quoted me as the option price from Crossroads. It appears I can buy the system. I still wish Crossroads had contacted me and let me explain that I am fully capable of installing this (albeit difficult) system, and then send me the system as I requested.

On a side note, the Linc remote looks nice. I found it in Lippert's catalog on page 25 (15 of the pdf). It says Apple and Android apps are coming soon, which interests me. It also says the Linc remote is backward compatible.

I wish there was a way to deal with you as I have the system & have no interest in but it was there. Looking at the fob I am afraid I would have something coming in & something else going out or the awning halfway whatever.. I do not need it as all functions are basic without & who moves that stuff around so much you need a remote to do it we certaily don't & we use ours 6 to 7 months out of the normal year. It is only a few feet from anywheres in the unit to the controls.
No I can't dismantle our unit and maybe it will someday become a real effort to operate the buttons but not now maybe later. JMHO jb
