We just got back home today from a great long weekend of Camping. I unhitched from the 5er as I aways do, pulled the truck out and the unhitch was completed. I look in the mirror and see the wife picking something up from the ground. I get out and discover that parts have broken from our Automatic PullRite Hitch. I couldn't beleive it.

This is my hitch by PullRite http://www.pullrite.com/pdfs/2700_2900_ISR_OM.pdfGoto Page 10 and you will see the Lock Jaw Assembly. On the left side of the assembly are 2 springs attached to a Cam which hasa solid Pin. This Pin is what Broke, plus the cam was bent. When I got back from the dealer, went over everything again, checked everything and yet I still can't determine how this happened.

This has left me very very concerned about this hitch. All year so far it has been working flawlessly and then this happened today. I never deviate from any hitching proceedures and I take all precautions.

I called my Dealer and dropped it off to them to investigate and repair the hitch. They are great and I know the Hitch is in good hands.

I tried attaching a picture but couldn't make it work.

I will keep trying

Duey, do you ever remember of backing into it with the jaws closed?
I can see where that might break that particular pin.

It was fully open and the hitch slid in nice and easy as it always does. I am really banging by brain on this one.

Hopefully they will find out what happen. I would be concerned also. Let us know what they say.
