One of the best things we have added to our trailer is the Eliminator stabilizer system after talking to Cobra909 after he installed them on his trailer. With those and the Bal chocks between the tires we have very little movement in the trailer.

I put a set of JT's Armstrong stabilizers on mine and really like them. I also use chocks on both sides.

forget the tri-pod, waste of time and money, I went with the elimiantor stabilizrers and roto-chocks, took 95% of all the movement out, the tri-pod is heavy and really a waste of money....

Agreed- anything that applies opposing static pressure to both axles will work (Bal X Chocks, Roto-Chocks, etc.) then any brand of the stabilizer arms works well for side-to-side motions.

It's a camper. It's on wheels. It's going to move.

Apparently, you don't have a set of these on your 5er.

http://www.plugitright.com/RVStabilizer.html

As stated above, they literally take all of the movement out.

It is a camper and should move when I'm pulling it, not walking or sleeping in it

If the tires are on the ground there is going to be some movement no matter what you do to stabilize it.

If you use cross stabilizers and put scissor jacks in front of wheels then it will take all frame flex and spring movement out of the trailer. Hence it can be on wheels and still not move.

I ave gone thru several of the stabilizers on the market with my old unit. (My wife is not a fan of any movement)

I found that the Steadyfast stabilizers worked the best and were the easies to work with every weekend. Instead of 6 connectors that either take a wrench or you to get down almost under your unit, this one has three connectors that are longer and are very rigid, instead of the light metal of some of the products.

Here is a link to where I bought mine. It is really your choice, but this is what I will be reinstalling on my new unit in the spring. It is a little cold this week in MI.

Hope my opinion helps...

The big difference we noticed between our new 30sk and our old '07 30sk is the electric rear jacks. Where the sissor jacks are flimsy and can't take the movement out of the trailer, the electric jacks are rock solid, no movement, When used with x-chocks and a tripod our 5'er is rock solid. Crossroads shoud make the electric rear jacks standard on all 5'ers

Sorry, I was having a crabby day. It's just that I expect some movement when moving around in the trailer, so I guess it's not as big an issue for me. Just like I don't get having a bigger 5er for full timing so two people can have room apart. We spend lots of time together now and I wouldn't want to search the 5er to find the DH. I guess 39 years of married life and being farmers got us used to be together already.

I've got JT's Armstrong stabilizers on mine and they work very well. The people who have been inside my RV comment on how rock solid it feels. I don't use a locking chock either.

At the Denver RV show last month there was one dealer who had already installed JT Strongarms on each of the 5ers on display. I was pleasantly surprised at how solid the units felt. I bought some ratcheting cargo bars a couple weeks ago that I'm going to trywith aX-type pattern on the front and rear of my trailer when I head out in a month or so. If those don't work out to Joyce's satisfaction then I'll adda permanent solution such as one of those mentioned in these posts.

I can't remember who it was, but somebody on here did a similar mod. If I am remembering right they used square tubing. Two different sizes that telescoped. If I hadn't already put mine on, I would have went that route. It would have been a lot cheaper and accomplished the same thing.
Do a search in the mod section, you might be able to find it.

Interesting replies...we don't use anything. Yeah, the trailer moves if someone walks around, but we've never bothered by that enough to spend money on a fix. Then again, I was raised in southern California and became used to earthquakes and the likes.
