Annual inspection

Having some warranty work done and the 2nd annual inspection.

They found 3 staples coming through the roof and the roof needs some resealing in multiple locations (The LR corner seal, ladder and skylight all have voids in the caulking).

Looks like 1 1/2 hours labor and a few tubes of sealant. Have not heard how the staple issue will be dealt with.

Voids in the calking looks like an original manufacturing problem.

Anyone else have staples coming through the roof?

I did a search and it looks like some have had similar problems and in most cases CrossRoads took care of the issue. I'll keep everyone posted on how the problem is dealt with.

My 30 SK is having warranty work done also, so I can't check for staples until I get it back. I will be checking. You are the second person on this forum that I have seen, who has posted about roof staples. Let us know what happens, and what can be done for that problem.

The CrossRoads Rep has authorized the dealer to submit an estimate for the roof repairs. The Camping World service rep. indicated that she will update me when they put together the estimate for the repairs.

As far as re-sealing - that is a normal maintenance item so I'll be paying the bill for that. I think the local Camping World labor rate is about $125.00/hr.

If you have a bad seal on your car or even our new home is it your job to reseal it your self? Why is it our responsibility to reseal a roof that the average person doesn't belong on or can't walk on because the plywood is to thin?

I agree with you but so far it appears that it will be worth the annual maintenance fee to keep the 5 year warranty valid.

Picked up the trailer today - had been at the dealer since 10/28. The issue with the staples coming through the roof was only on the "drivers" side. Roof material was pulled back, problem fixed, material put back in place and sealed. Covered under the warranty. Second annual inspection form sent in to CrossRoads. Hopefully the staples coming free won't be a re-occurring problem.

You guys are getting me a little worried , just came back from the dealer for the 1st year checkup nothing serious, one tire was wearing faster then the others, the had to fix the moulding around the bathroom door and put the table level, but I mention to the technician that there was a tiny bump on the roof and he said not to worried that it was probably a plywood chip, I will get back on the roof as soon as the snow melt and have a other peek to make sure that it's not a staple. !!!!

Susan, our 2011 Seville has a section in the warranty that it has to be checked annually (at least for the first 5 years) by a dealer or at the factory for warranty validation. The 2011's had a bit different warranty than the newer ones (long discussion, not for this post). The first 2 years were end to end, the next 3 are for structure, frame, etc. as I understand it.

I'd call Crossroads, not email, and check if you need the yearly checkup. I know I have to on my '13 Cruiser Patriot.

I was under the impression that Crossroads technician and representative would come on this forum and answer most of our questions ? I must be wrong

I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen. CR no longer runs the forum.

I have a 2014 st32rl that I just pick up last week. I purchased the extended warranty for a total of 7 years. I asked the salesman but he said nothing about inspections but he was not the one doing the paper work and selling the extended plan. Guess I will have to call them tomorrow and find out for sure.

Well that's to bad, you would think that they should have a peek once in a while.

Was the warranty through a dealer like Camping World? If so, the requirements are different. Ours had the Crossroads warranty when new, we also got a extended warranty that I hope we never need.

I have to agree with the others here, call Crossroads and ask them about what the requirements are & then call and check your extended warranty as well.

A warranty is one of those things you hope you never need but are glad you have it when something big happens.

Quote from my Owners Manual : Rushmore and Cruiser 2 + (5 year stuctural)
*Yearly inspections are required to qualify for five year stuctural warranty. Failures to submit proper documentation to CrossRoads on a yearly basis will result in cancellation of the five year structural warranty. The inspection certificate form can be found on the last page of this manual.

There is a few more instruction at the end of the Manual saying that inspection must be done by a CR Dealer

That should answer all the questions,

Just found out that I had my yearly maintenance was done a few weeks ago but the dealer did not signed my Manual, I will have to return next week to pickup my new mattress so I will ask im to sign it

Mike, you might want check to see if your dealer has to submit the documentation to CR as proof of it being done.

There might be a other problem, my dealer do not sell CR anymore, might have to check with CR.

Yes, I hope I never need it! I have never bought an extended warranty on anything before but thought it might be a good idea
