Baggage/ storage area locks

My Crossroads Cruiser has Lippert storage doors on it with Southco slam latch locks. The issue I have is that the key for them is a Southco R001. That key will fit many, many other rv storage doors since all the Southco locks installed in RVs are the same. I would like to upgrade to something that is more secure. Does anyone have a way of doing this without replacing all six complete handles. I called Southco and they say the lock cylinder cannot be replaced or rekeyed. Does anyone have another opinion on this. I have not taken it to a locksmith yet. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. So far, all I can find on the web pertains to the CH157 locks that have the same issue.

Thanks,

Bill

I ordered new locks and latches for ours right after we bought it. I think I spent around $200 and the same key works on everything.

Unfortunately, there may not be a cheap fix for this. I replaced the door lock and the slam locks with those from RV Lock. It wasn't cheap so wait till they do a discount (I think I got 30%+ off on a black Friday sale). I have the same key that does the door and slam locks plus those are on a key fob (wireless) or on a touchpad (use the remote touchpad if you can).

The downside is that any key lock hatches are a bit problematic as I have to build new latch hardware (inside the door) for those.

Keep in mind that new locks will be a false sense of security. A thief can/ will use a screwdriver or pry bar and do $hundreds/ thousands damage to the doors; better to bend/ break some cheap locks, or BEST for them to use a key. Try watching youtube on trailer hitch locks security vs pry bar. Theft amongst RVers is 1/10,000 I suspect. The REAL purpose of the lock is that it cannot vibrate/ shake unlocked vs thumb-latch, that might. Evan at home, most thieves steal LESS than your deductible, because they want misdemeanor vs felony

I also am interested in doing the same thing, I replaced the CH751 keys in a previous RV with tubular locks (all keyed alike) from an Ebay seller that had a matched set. A lot cheaper than the online "RV lock" sellers. But these seem to be more difficult to swap. I intend to wait for the black friday sale to do a matched remote key system for everything. Noticed that my 2011 Cruiser CTX main door lock is a weird size as well.
