Bedroom power vent fan cover

We will take delivery of the fifth wheel this Friday. </span>I am having the dealer install aDeluxe Fan-Tastic Ceiling Fan Vent with

thermostat in the bedroom of our fifth wheel prior to delivery.

I will install a MaxxAir Fan/Mate Rain Cover or a MaxxAir II Vent Cover. Both look to be a good design and can be used

with powered vent fans.</span>For those that have

installed covers which one did you use and why?</span>

I use the Max Air II on our 2012 335SS and one thing I have noticed is that the vent lid will open up more than what the Max Air will let it. With your vent that is automatic opening and closing you should make sure that the gears don't strip out when the lid hits the vent cover. Our new camper we didn't have the auto vent put in as we felt it brought in too much dirt/dust than it was worth. What we did was put an 13500 AC in. That way we could use the AC or the fan only.

I have had no trouble at all with this fan. I usually set it to pull airout of the camper. It does a good job of assisting the A/C when we first pull in and set up. The only complaint I have is the BEEP that sounds when you use the remote. If I could find where it is coming from I would cover it with a peice of tape.

I have the auto fan with the inside thermostat covered by the MaxxAir II. I have no issues with gears as the fan stops when the lid hits the resistance / MaxxAir.

If you search the web you'll find where someone compared the MaxxAir II with the MaxxAir covers for Fan-stat-ic fans and the MaxxAirII has more open air space to allow proper air flow.

Also, I got my MaxxAirs II from Camping World on sale for $29.99 ea. and if you spend $100 you got free shipping. If you can wait search their site from to time to see if the sale pops again.

At $29.99 ea I did all my covers Bedroom, Stool Room, and rear Bunkroom. My total cost was just under $90 with shipping I was just over $100 so I order some RV Gel Gloss soap to bring my total to just over $100 to get the free shipping. I would rather have products than just a shipping charge.

I went with the Fan mate covers for $75 because I liked the more protected vent design, the added clearance to the lid, and watching the two installation videos I thought that the Fan mate cover would give me less problems. We had the Rain Cover installed with ours, and we're very happy with it. The fan itself works like a charm. We can feel the difference in the air almost immediately. The rain sensor has saved us a couple of times already. Enjoy your new 335SS!

There was a point in time when Fantastic did not recommend using covers on them as they loaded them from not enough allowable air flow through them.They had rain sensors so were not needed either.

On the disussion about stripping gears in the fan lift, unless changed they always had syncrous type motors and it didn't have gears so to speak. They get toa certain loading factor& stop or reverse direction.. I have had several of these fans so learned the hard way how to repair and troubleshoot.IMHO jb

John: Any good advice on where to locate manuals or advice on these Fans?
I have 3 fantastic Fans in my new 335 and they are not operating consistently - do not respond to the thermostats the same way and rain sensor on one seems need a lot of rain - i.e it is spraying water inside the trailer almost before it decides to shut down. To be honest I need to do some more testing to describe accurately what is going on - when the better half yells that she is getting rained on all you do is react.

Boomer - sounds like you have a fan in the kitchen area - our unit only has two fans/openings in the roof. One bedroom fan/opening and one bathroom fan/opening. I thought it was odd that the kitchen area does not have a roof opening for a vent/fan.

Yes - I have a fantastic fan in the living room area - but all the 335s I toured while in the buying phase did not have a vent in the living room unless it had a Fantastic Fan installed.

Seems weird to me as well - Having the fan in the living room has an additional attraction on the unit which was special order by another couple - then the deal fell thorough for them and I picked it up for less money.

Boomer - I guess one less hole in the roof may be good too. I did purchase two Maxxair II vent covers for the bedroom and bathroom. I'll install them once we receive the trailer. The hinged designed will be nice for cleaning and maint.
