As per a previous thread, my black water tank valve that was always hard to manipulate, got stuck open. After encouragement from here I decided to change it myself. Ordered a complete valve cable kit from Amazon, a Valterra with a 75 inch cable.
Pulled the underbelly back and got to the valve. Valve wouldn't move, oh well glad I bought the whole kit. Pulled the valve and discovered that there was a defect in the edge of the pipe that connected to the valve. Looks like a piece of casted plastic that stuck out on the bottom of the inside of the pipe. as soon as I unbolted the valve it freed up and worked easily and smoothly. Unfortunately, the cable was still completely frozen, even unhooked from the valve it wouldn't budge in or out.

Clipped off the offending piece of plastic that was sticking out and installed the new valve. The 72 inch cable was too short! I have it hooked up but it has a bend right where it connects to the valve. It does work and is easier than the original, but I am afraid this won't last long like this. Has anyone found a cable longer than 72 inches??

The only other option I can see is to move the dump valve, but it would have to be placed under the belly skin then.

Any Ideas??

Isn't your unit under warranty? Can you not have your dealer fix it for you? Just wondering.
