I have 2010 crossroads cruiser sk30 fifth wheel. I have a 2010 Ford with factory installed brake controller. Since day one I would get a wiring fault. Dealership told me this is a problem with the Fords. I could reset the controller and it would clear. A couple of times my brakes would go out. I would pull the emergency disconnect and brakes would start working again. I changed out trailer wire harness and the brake wire. Still had problem. Finally pulled wheels and hubs. Found on the passenger side the magnet clips were gone and magnets hanging. Wires were just about cut in two. Put new clips and but splice wires. Also had grease on magnet surface. Well took a little 800 mile trip and no wiring fault and brakes work a lot better.

Thanks for the info - I inspect the brakes when I inspect/grease the bearings (usually in the spring).

Ford Dealership or Rv? Told you this? If you brought it to me i would have gave it a full inspection. Pulled wheels.. I would have not ignored a error display or blame in on "FORDS" Or "Chevys"
Nobody touches my stuff except me.

I don't mean to hi jack, but I think my issue is related. As of today, when I put my truck in reverse my factory brake controller flashes a fault code "56" and my dash tells me the trailer has been disconnected. There is no trailer hooked on, and it only happens when in reverse. When I put it in drive or park it goes away.
Anyone know anything about this?

Neighbor has a 2008 ford w/factory controller, he was having fault problems also. We looked at different things then discovered that Ford was having problems with their plugs. Pulled truck 7way plug and discovered it was getting water in it and causing problems. Cleaned it and let it dry out and repacked with some good dielectric grease and no more problems.

That might be my issue too. yesterday it was raining something feirce-- and it was acting up yesterday. Not so much rain today and it seems fine. I will have to keep an eye on it. It probably wouldn't hurt to put more dielectric grease on it either.
thanks!

16,000 miles on my 2011 Chevy - no issues to date. Have seen postings on the DieselPlace and DuramaxForums though. Mostly related to poor connections on the trailer or dirty connections on the truck.

I have seen you on those two forums Bob. Kind of a new thing for me going from Dodge CTD forums for 11 years to Chevy Duramax forums.

Sounds like a very happy converted Chevy owner.
I knew you would eventually see the light.

I will comment more on that after I have had it a while and get to tow the trailer with it. First we have to keep the trailer out of the repair shop long enough to be able to take a trip with it.....
