Just a reminder to check the glass globe on the ceiling light above the dinette. Ours came loose while traveling today, dropped on the table and broke. I never thought to check the nut holding the globe. We drove past the factory Monday, if I had only known. I phoned my dealer and should have a replacement waiting for us when we get back home in a few weeks.

This happened to us last weekend, but luckily did not break. Put heck of a dent into the table though.

I added some medium Loctite on the nut to hold it a little better so that we do not walk into a mess.

scary!

That's a good idea using the Locktite.

Thanks a bunch for this thread, I'll be adding the light shade tightness to my checklist. I'll also be using some Locktite as suggested by Larry.

Ihave once in a while checked the screws on the globeto make sure they are tight . But a drop of blue loctite on each sounds like a good idea. Just added that to my Saturday to-do list.

Happened to me too on my 2010 model. Dented table did not break. Just tightened, no Loctite (good idea though).

Yep same thing here. After two came down I figured out that placing a large rubber band around the globe's outer lip, will keep the screws tight.

I replace the rubber band about every two years or so.

I got an almost identical glass globe at Home Depot for a couple of dollars
