Does the Cruiser have an external AM radio antenna?

The AM band on the Jensen radio of our new Cruiser will not pick up any stations. Just static.

I cannot see what I think of an AM antenna on the roof (usually a wire whip). Is this camper equipped with any sort of AM antenna. The radio has a port labeled ANT with a cable coming out of it. The cable is about 4 inches long and it is connected to what looks to be a narrow coax cable, orange in color. I have no idea where it goes from there, after it disappears down the rabbit hole.

The FM side works fine, as well as the DVD video and sound system.

Side question. Is there any way to connect the TV sound to the radio? I can find no empty ports on the radio, but our last trailer had a Jensen and the TV audio could be ran through the speakers by using the AUX button.

My
I have never used the AM radio in my rig but I understand that the same antenna for the television also doubles as the radio antenna...As for your second question I think that depends on the model number on the Jensen as to some of the functions it will preform...You may have had a more expensive model in your last camper...

As you have learned, the antenna input to the radio is actually connected to the TV antenna via a splitter, usually behind the TV antenna connection with booster. The characteristics and frequencies of OverTheAir TV coincide with the FM band, so the antenna picks those up well. However, the bandwidth, amplifier range, and physical characteristics of the TV antenna do not lend themselves to an AM frequency.
If you REALLY want AM reception, mount an AM antenna (as you are familiar with) outside, then run the antenna to the radio. You might include an A/B switch to allow you to select either your new, rod antenna, or the amplified TV antenna.
For me, to avoid the hassle of drilling, and to enjoy long-distance AM and shortwave inside or out, I bought one of these: CCRadio-SW AM/FM Shortwave Radio > AM FM Radios > Shortwave Radios | C. Crane
I enjoy sitting outside, with a long-wire antenna strung between the trees, and picking up stations from hundreds of miles away.
Good luck!
