We just purchased a new Cruiser. The electric awning has no facilities for antiflap clamps and we are cautioned about tying down the arms in windy situations. We cannot enjoy the awning for protection of rain or sun because we are in Michigan and almost always have a stiff breeze where we camp???<div id="myWatcherDiv" style="display:n&#111;ne;">

How can we secure the awning safely, so we can enjoy it???

I understand. On all my other units I was able to use the antiflap clamps. Not with the cruiser. I finally just accepted it. I have used the awning strap that goes across the top edge and ties down to the ground on each side. I use this at the beach.

I have found that lowering it on one side or the other in windy conditions works, and it works very well in rain. I'm talking about 20-25 mph winds, not gale force or really heavy. JMHO

I tie mine down, one tie down on each end. As was stated above, if wind gets to 25 - 30 miles per hour, generally close it. Without the auto-closing feature, like on some motor homes, I see no reason to not use tie downs. Have seen several others tie down theirs. Actually saw a guy use five tie downs on an awning shade attached to his electric awning. He was gone all day and wind was gusting to at least 30 mph, awning flapped alot, but didn't come loose or tear.

We use anchor straps. Our park neighbor bought a package from Walmart that we split. I already had a set of ground anchors. Unless a strong storm is forecast we keep the awning out and strapped down.
