My wife and I were towing our 31 Ft Cruiser down I-40 when I looked in the mirror and saw the black plastic fender skirt flapping in the wind! The leading edge of the piece was not sealed down and the thin plastic tore from around the screws. Has this happened to anyone else?
First I have heard of that. I have heard of them breaking with a blowout of the tire but not the wind. I suspect the screws were not installed correctly or too few.
I guess overtorqued screws (just like most shower skylites) causing cracks in thin plastic skirt thus a bunch of weak spots and one too many wind gusts finally got to it...?

on our previous 5er I had them box in the 'parachute' on the fender below the slide after mine did the same thing.... thus far though the redwood seems to have better flow around the fenders...
Mine loosened also and cracked the plastic around some of the screws. I figured the screws vibrated out. Replaced the screws with bolts and locking nuts. Seemed to solve the problem. We were traveling and went by the Crossroads Factory and they warranted replacements. It was easier for me to just install them my self. I was still under the 1 year warranty. That was at about 8k and we have about 20k now with no further problems.
I like what Mark5 used, seemed like it would have been easier. Just used what I could get at a hardware store on the road.
There is a alum brace behind the fender skirt, I had to put a second screw in mine. The one from the factory was in a very bad spot which made it strip out. Anyhow the 2nd screw seem to do the job, I had to reseal the fender with caulking because flapping in the wind made it break.
