I went up on the roof to check the roof on the slides before bringing them in, they were fine but, I discovered a small "L" shaped tear in the roof. Each leg of the tear is between 1/2 and 1 inch long. I am relatively new to RVing and I would like to know if I can repair this orshouldit be done professionally? I am relatively handy, I use to be an electrician, so I'm hoping that I can fix it. I'm just not sure where to start.

I had the same thing happen to our roof about the same size and patched it with Eternabond tape. Just clean the area good and cut a piece a little larger than the tear and apply it. Once it is in place it will not come up. Our repair was made two years ago and it is still doing fine. Below is where I bought mine.

You can also buy a patch kit from most internet RV site. We did this for a much larger tear in 2007 and it is still in good shape. The patch kit comes with Dicor self leveling caulk for the edges.

I fixed a small tear just in the same way. This stuff is great and nice to have on hand to make these small repairs on the road.
