Question Hot Water Heater

2016 Cruiser Touring Edition;
Took our RV out for 1st weekend trip. Could not get any hot water for more than 5 seconds??? Checked outside access panel and saw nothing to reset in it. Flipped both gas & electric switches in panel to no avail.
Research this morning tells me I probably burned up the element. Sounds like my heater is in a by-pass mode. Where would I need to look to verify this. and no, this was not covered in my walk (run) thru inspection.

Knowing where the heater is, go inside, and open up a panel or storage bay that should be BEHIND it. You'll find two valves, and both red (hot) and blue (cold) tubing. The valves are open when the handle runs in line with the tube, and the valve is closed when the handle is perpendicular to the tube. Configure the handles so the cold water has to go THROUGH the water heater, not around it. In other words, the water heater inlet (cold) should be open, and the bypass should be closed.

Good suggestion from Marty. After you have good water running through the water heater, you can re-try the DC side of the water heater and, hopefully, have hot water.

Hot Water Heater

Thanks Guys. I will investigate under cabinets this evening after work. I just hope that I have not messed up too much.
