I hate those mice

Bought a 2016 Cruiser 305RS camper used last fall and they had it sitting up against a a wooded area for a month or so. Took it camping and found that we had mice. We set traps before winter storage and caught several. None now for a couple of weeks.
What does everyone find best to keep them out.

Plug all the holes where they can get it.
You will literally have to open every compartment, doors, drawers etc. where the manufacture made holes for water lines, plumbing, electrical. I used steel wool and expanding foam. There are areas on the outside of your camper that have openings also. Do a very thorough inspection before calling it done.
Good luck.

Buy a couple boxes of Fresh Cab (or Cab Fresh) & toss the pouches in/under cabinets, under furniture & in the storage compartments, it smells good to humans but apparently not to critters.
Also spread some Ramick Green pellets under/around the outside of the RV, I don't know if it's poison or just a deterrent, but whatever it is it works.
Plus as Lloyd suggested plug as many holes as possible.

We tried the cab fresh and it did not work for us in the camper or the tractor. They nested in it so back to good ol Decon. And i also agree with Lloyd - seal up everything that you can. That may do it or at the least slow them down. And cats lots of cats!

Like Lloyd said, expanding foam. Here is a fairly new expanding foam where you don't have to use steel wool with it:

Thanks for all the replies. Like I said, the mice were there when we bought it and we have not had any new kills in a couple of weeks so hopefully we got rid of what was in there...knock on wood!!!

We had a cat but he passed last year. Living in the country there are always a few cats around. Keeps the barn mice down and in turn out of the camper.

Yes I get the odd mouse where I store my trailers. One thing that mice really don't like are bounce sheets and also I put Irish Spring soap cut from a bar in each drawer. This seems to work quite well and you get a very nice smelling trailer. Good Luck

Dachshunds also work well, especially females.

I also suggest to do what Lloyd said to do but I would suggest steel aluminum instead of steel wool as it will not rust, but which ever you choose will work fine. Be sure to remove the access panel for the furnace and seal where the ductwork for the furnace go through the floor there may be very large gaps there, and if you look through you will see the Coroplast underbelly. That is why it is so important to seal all the gaps in the underbelly of the rig.
Next is what I feel is most important is to get a couple of tubes of 1000% silicone and crawl under your unit and seal ALL gaps in the Coroplast underbelly like where the spring brackets and bumpers attach to the frame rails etc. I spent hours under our camper and we do not get any visitors in ours. Finally I suggest putting some cotton balls soaked with peppermint oil throughout the camper and storage compartments. There are You Tube videos comparing peppermint oil to dryer sheets and Irish Spring soaps effectiveness against mice and peppermint oil is far superior. Sorry for the long post but I hope it helps.

Deal with mice all the time. I work for the Railroad and I have learned. If you plug all holes and put mint extract and cotton balls it keeps nasty little critters away from everything I have done this in my fifth wheel and for six years not one sign of any little rodent

Something to think about, mice can get in a hole the size of a pencil. I have also heard the Irish Spring bar soap keeps them out. I'd try several of the suggestions. Good luck. I have a similar problem with ants.

I have my 5er in a metal enclosed building with roll up doors. I keep mice traps next to both doors on both sides of the doors. I also have two traps on each side of the camper at the wheels.

Mice

The Irish Spring in my 5er had small teeth marks in it and was moved from where I placed it. Guess the mice figured it was more effective where they put the leftovers. After I got 5 of the critters in the Victor mouse traps, they were done.

about peppermint

Just a warning about peppermint keeping mice away. At the first cold snap they moved into my house, they is a lot. I had read about peppermint to keep them away and put the oil on cotton balls and placed in the drawers. I had a package of 40 packs of peppermint gum. The buggers got into the gum opened over half of the packages and dragged half chewed gum all over the shelf. I got a glance of him, he was very fat. I really don't believe much keeps them away. Traps and poison.
