torque in 3 increments up to 120 Ftlbs. torque should be checked every 50 miles or so untill stable, then checked for 120 ftLbsbefore each big trip also check tire pressure before a trip.
Taken right out of the crossroads manual and also my old Outback manual said the same thingEdited by: cw3jason

According to the Lippert manual - 3 stages 20-25, 50-60, 90-120, all wheels 14" - 16.5", 5 - 8 lug. I have 1/2" lugs and I am skeptical to go up to 120. I go up to 95 in a star pattern.

Does it make a difference if you have steel rims or aluminum?

I don't know for sure about the type of rims. The Lippert manual is kinda vague as it groups all rims sizes and all lug configurations into one set of torque values.

No, steel or aluminum rims do not determin torque value. it is the size of the lug nut and stud

I totally agree on the 120 on 1/2 in studs too much. i have always torqued mine to 80 lbs in a star patternand have been down many roads with the wheels still on the trailer! JMHO jb

I did a quick google on the subject and the consensus seems to be 80 to 9o lbs torque dry so I feel good as that as how I have done it for years...JMHO jb

My dealer set mine at 80...and I tested them every time I hooked up last year..never moved an inch....so I think 80 sounds reasonable...IMHO

80 is a little on the light side. I use 90 ft. lb. I don't think you will have any problems on 80.
