I know there have been many posts on this subject. But would like to clarify a few things. I have read that coleman road trip grills that take the small propane bottles wont operate when hooked to this low pressure connection on some cruiser models. If this is true, would like to hear about a few that will. Also does anyone know of a camp stove or dual burner that will work? I just dont like carrying around all of those throw away propane bottles with me. Thanks!

I have used a 10# LP bottle on my two burner Coleman camp stove for years. No regulator. Just a direct hookup using a rubber hose I purchased from camco.

Here is a couple ideas on what you can do.

I have a Weber. I took the regulator off the grill and it works fine.

Lloyd,
I have the Coleman Roadmate grill and have decided against trying to "jerry-rig" it to work off the camper. Now that I have the truck and can carry a 10# LP tank, how do I hook it up to the tank? I have the 10 foot hose you describe in here, what else do I need to hook it to the tank?

Thanks Lloyd,
Jim

I think this might be it.

You might be able to pick one up at your local LP supplier. Cenex??

Linda, Is your grill a weber Q? That is what I was thinking of
getting. I think I remember some posts that this grill works well connected to the camper propane supply. Thanks.

Lloyd, I was thinking of connecting the camp stove to the propane connection near the entry door. I have read that since this is after the regulator some appliances wont work properly. This may be low pressure? What do you think?

I have found one way to beat the "double regulator" aspect of this. This is to saw off the regulator that goes into the Coleman Roadmate, and use a piece of rubber hose with the correct fitting on the end. You would have to either use a crimp on it or use a screw-on clamp to tighten down the hose. I feared that not having a crimping tool that if I used the hose clamps that it might leak, even ever so slightly. Having any fear makes me doubt the reason for doing it...thus I more than agree with Lloyd and I will buy the 10# LP bottle and use the 10' hose I already have. Better to be safe than... JMHO

I have an Olympian Wave heater we use in the fall when we go hunting for about a mo. I connected into the main gas line where it comes into the camper under the sink. (feeds the cook stove there)
It works fine, and that is after the low pressure regulator. I can't see why there is such a problem getting things hooked upped that say they need low pressure. Anything that's after the regulator on the tank is low pressure. If the regulator is set right, it is usually about in the 10.5 to 11.5 water column. I use a kwik coupler on my heater, so I can unhook it for travel.

We use the outside connection for our grill.I got the hose end that fits the coupler and Camco makes a valve to use on the grill to eliminate the double regulator and it works nice that way, plus no need to carry something else. JMHO jb

I have a camp chief double burner. it works great and you can get griddles, grills, and also cook with about any type pot or pan. and you can get the hose to use the grill with your camper at the camp chief web site. I had the road trip and sold mine and went to camp chief.

The first time I tried to use my outside quick connect the handle broke off in my hand. I couldn't be bothered getting another cheap valve installed under warranty so I pulled it off and put a natural gas bbq kit on it. I attached the 10ft hose on to my cheap walmart bbq (after removing the regulator... and sorry, can't remember the brand) and have the quick connect on the other end of the hose for the hook up. It works great.

What was so cheap about the valve and now hooked up direct how do you control the units flame etc? I have been using ours for over two years with no problem! It sure beats hauling another cylinder>>>JMO jb

concreteman, I have the Explorer two burner you can get it very reasonable priced from gandermountain. I also have the reversible grill/griddle and barbecue grill box with lid, they are cast iron. you can use about anything with it. we cook about everything on it when we camp.

the handle and the screw on my valve at the quick connect fell off in my hand the first time I turned it. My bbq has knobs on the front to adjust the flame. It used to have a regulator and a support for a green tank on the back. I removed both.

Jim, Just bought a Explorer 2 burner grill and grill box. After looking I think this will do just what I want. Campgrounds open here the first week of April. Will be trying it out then. So much for the Diet! Thanks for the lead.

Hello Jim - we also have a camp chef 2 burner camp stove and love it, have used it for years but when we bought our CrossRoads trailer, couldn't figure out how to hook it up to the propane connection underneath the trailer (which is for the bbq grill from CrossRoads). You mentioned you were able to purchase a hose that made it possible to use the camp chef with your camper connection, I'm looking at the camp chef website and not sure what to look for, do you have a part number/description?

Kinda backwards to me. The stove is easy, the quick disconnect isn't(at least not as easy). Go to the RV dealer and get the proper quick disconnect for your trailer and the length of hose you want. Unscrew the hose from the grill itself and connect your new one. Save the old hose and regulator for when you want to use a bottle.
