We are enjoying our 08 Cruiser and havent had any real problems until recently, when we noticed water dripping from the AC onto the floor of the trailer. Fortunately, we noticed it in time before any water damage could occur. The AC we have is a Coleman/Mach 15k BTU.

I've disassembled the top cover and the interior cover, to inspect for a cause of the leak, but the best I can tell is that somehow water is getting into the fan area of the unit that is surrounded by styrofoam, and then it's dripping down instead of running out the back on the roof. There is still water running out the back, but not much. All I can find in the form of a drain are two small holes in the frame plate on the roof (one hole on each corner), and they are not clogged. So, I'm thinking there has to be a restriction of some sort from the evaporator section to the area in which the water is supposed to drain. I've checked the roof seal and 4 bolts 8 ways from Sunday, and I am fairly confident the seal is not the problem.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know where I might look to troubleshoot the cause of the leak?

Thanks,

Brad

I had a similar problem on my previous unit only it was the drain holes you say are not clogged. I suspect there IS a clogged drain hole (possibly a tube) somewhere. I suggest you keep looking for another plugged hole. Good luck.

There are four nuts that hold the AC to the roof some times these will back off and allow the water inside instead of the drain check these and make certain they are tight

I have also had this problem with another unit. I also found some clogged drain holes, also the water dripped down and into the control board and shorted it out. The dealer also said in very hot humid weather when the AC runs all the time, dont get the unit dead level so water can drain away better. Just a thought dont know if it helped or not.

Thanks for all the replies. I received an email response from the Coleman Mach sub. company regarding the issue. They explained that there are two drain nipples on the bottom side of the A/C frame that sits on the roof. If the 4 mounting bolts are tightened too much, the frame is squeezed against the roof, thereby sealing the drain nipples against the rubber/vinyl roof. The water then collects on the inside of the unit and runs into the coach. So I loosened the bolts and ensured the nipples were not sitting against the rubber/vinyl roof, and it seems to be working as it should for now. There just isnt much clearance b/n the roof and the nipples, so I will definitely be keeping an eye on this in the future.
