Rims Is Rims....

Hey Guys,( and gals) can anyone tell me what kind of Bolt Pattern they use on the Wheels on a Crusier Patriot? I just put new shoes on her today, getting rid of the China Bombs and putting on a set of Bridgestone Duravis R250's. My wallet feels violated.....anyway, I'm gonna put together another Spare for my spare and I need to figure out what rim to get. are all 6 bolt rims the same pattern, or they a model specific? ( Ford, Chevy, Dodge?) They go on a 12" LCI Hub...
Thanks.

Not to highjack the post, but can you put any LT or ST tire on the trailer? I too would like buy a domestic tire but even the Goodyear trailer tires are off-shored.

I don't think you meant any tire.
You should be able to put either an LT or ST on your rig if you stay within the size limits of your rims.

I went with a set of Marathons awhile back, and then upgraded to 16 in. Goodyear LT. Original rims were 15in.

Both, the marathons and the Goodyear LTs were mark (made in USA)
That was what my requirements were if they wanted sell me a set of tires.

I just downloaded a good article from Mark Polk RV Education 101 on this subject in the General Discussion Thread.

LLoyd,

Of course not, the correct dimension and sizing was assumed in my comment.

You know what (assume) stands for, don't you?

I work with general populous of intelligent beings all day long, so its a habit to assume basic common sense.

If some dope wants to try an put 275s on a rim built for 285s Who am i to judge.

My question is based on the construction of trailer tires. My understanding is the strand, sidewall and general construction differs quite a bit. I was taken back that someone recommended truck tires and if that was feasible..it opens alot more options for tires.

I was understanding that moving from ST's To LT were a step up as an upgrade anyway. My rig had 235/80/16 on it to start with and an odd mix of "Blowmax's" and Duro's.. and when I pulled them off to do the bearings and check the brakes, I found 2 of the 4 had Tread separations in progress, 1 had steelcords exposed and sticking out. So Stepping up to the Bridgestones was like dumping a Yugo for a Cadillac! Damn those things were heavy! Night and day difference!

Oh and as a side note, Most of the Tire guys I've talked to and that I know them to be very straight shooters (Or they know I'd cut off their cable.) Tell me that because of the weights and mileage these rigs sometimes get, That if you get the biggest rims rated for the size/weight. Then match them with the Max size truck(LT) Tire, Preferably made in the US because of the Warranty availability.= Most bang for the Buck. So I Bought the R250's at Costco( On Sale ) and everything about them says beefy! I think they'll die of old age b4 I get a chance to wear them out.......I don't worry about them blowing out anymore.

Thanks Attman6,

I live here south of Akron and good tire knowledge around with Goodyear, General, and Bridgestone with either their HQ or R&D here. That said we have tire engineers in the family and I still get mixed recommendations on trailer tires. I just was surprised when I saw you could swap truck tires for trailer tires (same size).

Red face

I think it is a case of overkill. You can't lose if you go as big/built as your Rated for, as long as you can afford it.As everyone says here!, How does Peace of Mind Cost? In my case....Quite a bit.
