I am thinking of adding 1.5 inch memory foam to the sofabed in my Cruiser. Has anyone else done this? I am hoping this won't be too thick and still fold up ok.

We have a 4" memory foam topper on our mattress. No problem, just buy the correct type sheets.

I do not think the sofa will still fold up with a memory foam in it. Memory foam is very heavy. However I also do not think it will help this miserable bed sleep any better. We always put the mattress on the floor and out of the sofa, then put a foam mattress on top of that. Guests say it sleeps good. The support structure on sofa beds is very very poor and even though you beef it up with memory foam I believe it will still sag in the middle.

We use a 2 inch memory foam in the bedroom and it makes this poor excuse for a mattress sleep very well !!

I have put cardboard between the matteress and springs. I have layed on it, but never slept on it, feels like it helps out a bit. When not using the cardboard, I just put it under the couch.

We did put a 1 1/2" topper on our sleeper sofa and it did fold up OK, but was a little tight. Not knowing how it will sleep but its got to be an improvement over stock.

I did not read the "sofabed" in the OP. My mistake. Edited by: artgpo

added the 1.5 memory foam to sofabed....it still folds up fine, seems to add some cushioning from the springs. I don't plan on using it much, just for the occasionally overnight guest. No need to make them too comfortable..they may never leave
