Hello All I live in RI and like most of the country it has been a really rugged winter. Spring will be here none too soon. Time to get ready for some RV fun. This will be our real first season. Would like to hear comments on surge protection. (2011 30skp 50amp).All input and or device info would be appreciated Thanks. Happy Trails

I have a 50 amp Autoformer hard wired in behind the breaker box on ours.

I use both a surge protector at the box and a Power Master voltage regulator hard wired into the trailer.
When we first got the trailer and going out camping we looked for surge protection and found one that not only protected for surges but checked the wiring of the campground to make sure it was good. This has saved my butt a couple of times. Then after visiting some campgrounds in the summer time when everyone had the AC on I noticed voltage drop to an unsafe value for items like my AC. Then after doing some reading both here and other boards I hound the need for voltage regulator that could boost the voltage when needed. Like the autoformer and the power master it will protect surges to the system and help regulate the voltage. A little long winded but I think the cost is well worth the piece of mind.
just my two cents

Thanks, great info. Need to do more homework but I feel it is best to avoid portable.
