On our 6 month old Cruiser 2012 cf 335ss we had our first blow out this week. Yes, that was my rubber all over I-40 going thru Albuquerque,NM.

I had checked the air 4 hours before and all was good. Looks like it came apart on inside sidewall. The tire waas a power tour trail express,st 235/80/r16.

I looked at a Goodyear G614 LT 235/85/16. Made in USA.I know it's a bigger tire,This tire is not made in a 80 series.I was wondering if any forum members had this85 serieson their cruiser. If there was any problems with clearance.I picked up a Greeenball tire just to have a spare.

Thanks for any and all help.

Happy camping !

James, I went from a 235/80/16 to an 235/85/16 on our Paradise Pointe with no issues. The difference was 1/2" taller on the 85 so 1" total between the two. If you have the clearance go for the better tires. I went from junk 80 Missions to 85 BFG Commercial LT tires and could not be more happy. The Goodyear G614 are good tires. It seems like the RV industry could care less about this ongoing tire issue.

WOW, ground hog day all over again?!?!?!?! I had mine on IH-35, the same tires, 2 weeks ago, in Buda, TX, while enroute to the Crossroads Factory Rally. Same story on air pressure & mine had 3000 miles on them. I had all 5 tires changed to same tire that Hunter11 has @ Discount tires. All 5 tires, warranties, metal valve stems, & tax $1004. Went on to the rally in Shipshewana, IN & had the factory repair the damaged skirting, fender & mechanical slide out rod, $104. The tire issue was discussed with Dave & the boys & it was written down, again, same as the TX rally. I'm still waiting for Crossroads to send me the address & phone to the tire mfg!?!?!?!

Hit nothing, straight flat dry road, going 65 mph in the center lane & the right rear tire blew out.

I'd really suggest getting a BFG or Michelin LT tire instead of the G614s. I've heard of problems with the G614 also.

How hard is it for Crossroads to offer a tire upgrade package? If the buyer is willing to pay for it up front Crossroads would be better off.

I think they could offer an upgrade on tires but just on this post I see 2 or 3 different tires brought up. I did a tire upgrade to BFG commercial load range E this year. I also went from 15" to 16"

With the amount of tires Crossroads purchases each year it could not cost that much more per unit to go ahead and put a good name brand tire on from the get go. But if it came down to it being an upgrade how many people would pay and extra $100 per tire on a new unit to give you peace of mind while towing your rig? I know in our case it would have been a no brainer after having to spend $750 for a new set of tires after only owning our trailer 6 months.

Even with good raod you can pick up one of these. It is a 3/8 by 1 1/4 inch bolt. My pressure Pro saved the day. It gave me a low pressure warning and I was able to get off the freeway to a safe shady area to change the tire. I was on I40 near Kingman AZ. It was hot that day. With out the Pressure Pro I am sure I would have had a tire failure with possible damage as it was on the slide side of the trailer. It is also possible there would not been enough tire left to determine why it failed.

RC - Please don't take any offense, but your tire doesn't appear to be wearing equally across. Could just be the photo.

Glad you made it without any issue.

I have the same tires on mine 235-80x16. Before going to a bigger tire check the distance between the tires. Mine is 2". A bigger tire and it might get a tad tight in there.

You are correct. Had another issue with my trailer. The tires still had good rubber so am getting as many miles as I can before I replace them. See this picture for my other issue.

Had a Lippert axle failure. Note the spring perch collapsed into the axle tube. This was a result of I40 between Kingman and <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="&#111;n"><st1lace w:st="&#111;n">Flagstaff</st1lace></st1:City> the previous year. That stretch of I40 had some VW size chuck holesthatcould not be missed. Lippert did replace the axle but would not replace the tires.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
