toilet seal

The seal in our porceline toilet lets the water leak slowly out. I've cleaned it with a toothbrush (not the one I use for my teeth, sprayed it with silicone (still leaked), and treated it with silicone paste (still leaks). The RV sat on the dealers lot for an undetermined length of time and it probably dried out. Any suggestions? Has anyone changed this seal, and if so, can it be done without removing the toilet?

If the Vaseline don't work. You can replace the seal; not difficult but you will have to pull the toilet.

What brand of toilet? If it's Thetford then the repair valve is pricey & you will have to remove the toilet to repair. In my opinion if it's Thetford & you have to remove then replace it with a Dometic 320 or 310, it can be rebuilt in place for about $20 & is a much better toilet. Mine had a Thetford, the pedal fell off & never held water, replacement pedal $70, new Dometic was about $160+/- & a much better toilet.

Replaced mine last year - was not holding water in the bowl. Did not need to replace the waste ball - just the seal.
Thetford 34117 Waste Ball Kit for Style II / Style Lite / Style Plus $20.91
or
Thetford 34120 Waste Ball Seal for Style II & Style Plus Toilets $13.95

Was an easy job. Toilet needs to be removed to get to the bowl seal. The seal on the floor gets replaced at the same time and is part of the "kit".
