they say is the problem. Â*I took the truck to Mission Valley Ford and they told me that they had to take the entire cab off of the frame and replace all the bolts. Â*They have had it for two days now and also told me that if that doesn't fix the clunk they won't charge me. Â*It's almost $1000 for this and I sure hope this fixes it. Â*Has anybody ever heard of a truck with only 71K miles needing to have all the mounting bolts on the cab to the frame replaced. Â*It seem incredible to me. Â*I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow so we will see.

I have never heard of this before. I can't imagine having to pull the cab off and replace all the mounting bolts for a rattle. I hope this fixes the issue for you but man that is a lot of work and money to fix a rattle.

Any vehicle I have ever seen the cab mount bolts go in from underneath and you can change them one at a time without moving anything.

Well I got the truck back and believe it or not they fixed the clunk. Â*We have a 2002 Super Duty F550 with the 7.3 ltr engine. Â*They only thing I can point to is that we drove up to Alaska last summer and went on the Taylor and Top of the World highways. Â*The word highways is really a joke. Â*The Taylor is a pot hole filled dirt road in the mountains and the Top of the World is not much better. Â*That was around a 10K mile trip. Â*Our total miles on the truck is 77K. Â*Its fixed and since it was getting worse by the day I'm glad I don't have to drive back to Minnesota with a wonky truck. Â*Still seems a bit strange.

Was it the bolts themselves that needed to be changed or was it the rubber bushings that the bolts go through that mount the cab to the frame? I could believe the bushings depending on the age of the truck. I don't think they would have had to raise the cab to replace just the bolts, but again they would have for the bushings. Just curious. At least your problem seems to be solved. Edited by: Cobra909

I didn't get the parts, but wish I would have remembered to ask for them. Â*They didn't explain to me anything other than the bolts but I bet you are right that it was the rubber bushings. That trip to Alaska was probably harder on the truck than we first thought. Â*I've heard of people breaking axles so I guess I should have expected something. Â*Nothing on the 5ver though.
