Washing machine drain 345BH

We recently got a combo washer dryer for our 2016 Cruiser 345BH. I hadn’t paid much attention but always thought the washer drain was plumbed into the grey tank. I noticed the black tank filling up way too quickly and looking at the plumbing it looks like they T-ed the washer drain into the black tank vent to drain into the black tank. Is this normal? If so, since you are not supposed to keep the black tank valve open I guess I just need to drain it after every couple loads of laundry.

That sounds like your only choice. Unless you want to reroute the plumbing, which can sometimes be a difficult job.

Thanks. When I have sewer connection it isn’t a problem. When we are at water/electric only sites I prefer not to have to use the blue boy for the black tank. I may look into re-routing it(at first glance it looks like a simple notch in the bulkhead and I could extend it back to the shower drain) but am really curious if this is normal. I thought they usually are plumbed into a grey tank. I would be interested in hearing from others that have W/D prep where the drain goes.

washer drain

I have 2012 cruiser and have washer. Wife was washing load and yelled at me that the toilet was filling up. I had just drained the gray tanks but was in state park with no black tank dump. I drained some out of the black tank but will not tell where, I was also surprised that crossroads had plumbed washer into black tank, guessed it was easier than doing it right as was most of the light switch placements. we have learned to just wash when have sewer connection but would like to connect it to gray tanks. Water for washer would not have any odor to drain on grass or trees but most parks do not allow.
I will be interested how you re plumb it if you do.

Washer line connected to black tank

I agree that this is a huge design flaw. Not only does the washing machine drain into the black tank, it also acts as a natural vent stack for the black tank, which unfortunately allows the sewer gas into the master room closet. We bought a new to us 2015 and have been very happy with it with exception of this issue. I’ll definitely be rerouting the plumbing so it connects with the grey. Engineer was given the day off when this was designed as it appears it stayed the same for years.
