We have a new 31 RE Cruiserwhich came with15 inch aluminum wheels and tires.I am upgrading my tires and rims to 16 inch E-rated.Can i still use the 15 inch spare tire and wheel that came with the 5er for a short distance if i have a flat or do i need to upgrade that wheel and tire also. The 16 inch wheels and tires became an option 2 weeks after we ordered our 5er. Thanks, Craig

I suppose you could do that, shouldn't be much different then putting one of those tires on your car that they give us for a spare. My question is why would you want to consider doing that after spending all the money to upgrade the rest to 16 in? One more wheel and tire shouldn't break the bank, and then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Can the 15" tires and wheels be changed to 16" easily or are there major modifications required?

The 2009.5' and up have more wheel wheel spacing then previous models, it should be a direct swap out.

I probably will buy a 16 inch spare (tire and wheel). The reason why i didn't do it in the first place is frankly i forgot about the spare. I talked to Rudy down at the factory and they are going to ship the new tires and wheels up to my dealer but i forgot to ask him abouta spare. I guess a call is in order. He told me that there is not a problem converting to 16's on my 5er that they can just be switched out. Craig

Canucklehead, I will have to get back to you on the measurements. Our 5er is put away in storage and we are leaving for a cruise this week and will be gone for a couple weeks. I will try to get back to you when we get home. If your Cruiser is an 09 or 2010 you should be ok. Dont quote me though. Someone else on this forum might know too. Craig

Canucklehead, you will have no trouble installing 16" rims and tires on your CF32BL as your unit has10" I-Beam Frame rails which gives you much better clearance than the units with 8" Frames. I have been running 16" rims and ST235/80R16 LRE rubber since the day I pulled it home and swapped out the 15" Missions that it came with.

Dean, I too have an '08 CF32BL and have been agonizing over whether to switch to 16 in. wheels and tires. I ordered mine in Oct. of '07 and picked up in Dec. '07. How is the fit? Are there any "rubbing" issues? I would really like to switch. Thanks for your input.

Jersey Guy, I have had no rubbing issues. There is a good 4" of clearance between the top of the tires and the underside of the trailer on the slide side and 5-6" on the entrance door side of the trailer. I use a set of the original BAL deluxe wheel chocks and there is plenty of room to slide them between the tires.
