The ultimate is an enclosed building, of course. The most economical is a cover, or wash/wax several times a year. If its windy where you live, covers tend to flap and not last long. If there is little or no wind they work pretty well but are still only good for 4 or 5 years. (Gorilla Tape is your friend, regardless- my cover looks like a razzel dazzel warship cammo paint job.) They are a pain to put on and take off but to me it beats scrubbing and waxing. It is extremely helpful to keep the sun and crud off the finish, however you decide to do it. I've never found that the cover damaged the finish as some say but then I don't get constant strong wind.
Its basically a money-effort equation. More money, less effort and vice versa. You can search for facts and decide what works best for you. There is no obvious best answer with so many factors to consider.
