Battery issue

I have a 2008 27BH Zinger. Battery is 6 yrs old. Put it in after sitting all winter and hooked up the leads to battery backwards. Dah! I had camper power cord plugged in for a week with battery hooked up like this before I realized what I did. I checked all fuses and nothing was blown. All seemed good. When I switched the battery leads back the right way my white (neg) lead was getting hot. Why? Is battery hosed?

Battery was probably close to dead when u installed it. The inverter charged it fully but the terminals are reversed seen it before u can just relabel it or draw it down till it is dead again hen reverse but I would use a regular battery cheater not the camper.

Definitely time to replace especially after reversing charge. Better safe than sorry.

I did the same thing a few years back and if I remember correctly I blew a fuse in my converter. It took me for ever to find the problem I was looking to buy a new converter when I found the manual and saw it had an internal fuse. I popped a new one in and never had a problem again.

Batteries are improved over a few years ago, but I would agree with Mark5w. In the "old" days a battery hooked up backwards and a charge attempt it may very well explode. Be safer than sorrier.
