How Tall Do You Have to be to Reach the Fan Button?

Hello Everyone, I'm a pretty tall Gal; 5'9", but, I still have to stretch a bit if I wish to turn on the circulating vent fan located in the ceiling of my bathroom. That little black toggle switch isn't easy to get to especially for those a little shorter, especially kids.
I wonder (again) what CR's was thinking?! Installing a wall switch was too much trouble or expensive?! Ooops, I must be thinking like a customer!

Very simple. Cost containment. It would cost extra to wire in the switch. Only suggestion for now, use a pencil.

Good call! Since it is a rocker switch, a rubber-tipped pencil is a good reach extender that wont' break the switch!

I like the height of the switch. It keeps the kids from playing with it.

The switch on our a/c unit in the living room ceiling is too high to reach. This is what switches it from dumping all the cold air in the living room or sending it through the system. I use the long BBQ tongs to switch it.

Just find something handy and use that.

I would have gladly paid them an extra $10 for a plastic faceplate, plastic switch and 2 feet of 14 AWG wire.

I'm 5'5" and cannot reach my fan switch or knob to open the vent. I purchased a small step stool that I use for a lot of different things but mainly to stand on to open my vent and turn on the fan in the bathroom. I can't believe how high the medicine chest is mounted! I was standing on my tiptoes to use the mirror. I finally bought a very cute expanding arm two-sided magifying mirror and installed in the bathroom. I know I could have lowered the medicine chest but it is fine for my hubby. We have the taller ceilings because we have a Sunset Trail 26RB but they must have throught we were all giants!

Well, this started an interesting thread. Our ceiling fan and the vent knob are within my reach and I'm 5'8". However the wife is more height dis-advantaged and can't reach either. We normally keep the bathroom vent closed unless taking showers or going #2 in which case the rule is you open the vent and turn on the fan. So, for the wife we got a short step stool for her to stand on which just sits in the shower when not in use.

It an expression I picked up somewhere, maybe military. It means "Too Much Information," and is used when people are telling you graphic details you really don't need to hear. Usually, as in this case, it's meant humorously.
