Mold nightmare in 2010 Zinger ZT31SB Travel Trailer

We had smelled a little musty smell coming from the storage compartment in the front of the RV under the master bedroom. We didn't think much of it. Once we took off the side tables in the front master bedroom, my wife noticed a little black in a small crack in the wall. I opened it up to investigate it... and... horror of horrors. More mold than we'd ever imagined.

here's a nice short video that displays the mold across the walls.
https://youtu.be/LlBH0Jnsd6k

It's clear the issue is the seal of the seam that is above the fake metallic plate in the front of the RV.

I pulled off the linoleum on the floor as well and there was a lot of mold too.
I see white, green, and black mold. Something for everyone.

the wood support beams on the base of the walls were sopping wet and large portions have become completely rotten.

It's going to be a whole demolition and reconstruction.

What are those thin studs used in the walls? They look like 3/4" x 1.5" ?
do they have a specific name? I've never seen that dimension of wood before.

Any other suggestions? Tips? Tricks?
Dos and Don'ts?

Every piece of wood and insulation should be ripped and and treated with black mold remover. Here is a example of a mold remover and fungicide:

https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Mold...9138667&sr=8-8

It will be a lot work to remove, kill and replace, but it is something anyone can do.
Inspect the rest of the rv for mold and search for the place of water infiltration.

Good luck.

That can be a real can of worms. It might prove to be a good challenge for you.
I've done a little searching on the forum for guys with similar issues. They might not all be the same as yours, but they are well worth taking the time to read them.
Here are the links.

Good luck.

And then the rebuilding. brand new flooring. the wall is really nice - and it's much lighter than the paneling. Light tongue in groove thin pine.
luxury vinyl plank flooring that i got for $1 / square foot on clearance sale.

Took a while. lots of hard work. but it was fun.
All's well that ends well...

Nice work. Did you find the origin of the leak?

thank you very much,
the leak was coming from the front seams in the side, the top seams along the length, and the seam just above the fake metal plate on the front of the RV. That was the big killer responsible for most of the mold. the mold pattern totally followed that seam which had noticeable gaps in it.
