Lightbulb Rangehood bulb

Hi there
Our rangehood lightbulb recently burnt out. It's a wedge-type bulb and I bought what I thought was a good replacement. It flashed once and didn't work. The bulb I bought was clear, but the one in the rangehood had a silver coating on the bulb (inside).

Haven't been able to find a model number on it anywhere. Any ideas hivemind???

The bulb in the range hood is 12V. Is that what you used?

I think I may have grabbed a 6V. That would explain it. Any idea about the silver coating?

With a silver coating sounds like it may be a Halogen bulb.

Buy the LED version. Last a lot longer.

X2 on the LED. We are replacing ours as they burn out - but that may change.

Sometimes when the incandescent bulbs burn out they will leave a silver coating on the glass.

Robb is correct. As the lamp ages, tungsten that evaporates off the filament gets deposited on the glass. As other suggested, and LED replacement can be brighter & last forever.

If you haven't got it taken care of yet---Walmart has them. Either the regular filament bulb, LED'S. They have a pretty good price also.
