This weekend we packed our 2006 32QB up to bring home for the season, and the slide out won't retract. The motor is working, but only the side where the motor is attached comes in causing the slide to twist. Looking under the slide the geared axle that connects the two beams doesn't seem to be turning.

I will be calling the dealer today, but am not sure how to get this fixed, towing with the slide out open seems really dangerous, and I'm sure would not be good for the structure of the TT.

Sounds like you either stripped the gears on the side that is not working or the connecting shaft is not turning. Look under the slide and check the shaft out. If the connecting shaft is turning then there is probably an issue with the gears.

It might close if you push on the side that isn't working while someone pushes the button.

There is a shear pin in the connecting rod to the opposite side. check to see if it broke.

Thanks for the replies.

After a healthy dose of Kroil Oil, some sweat and tears, I finally got the connecting rod to turn. Then I could clearly see where the teeth on the connecting rod had been sheared off on the side that was moving. I'm guessing that the rod had rusted froze and sheared the teeth when I tried to pull it in.

So, after assisting the connecting rod past the missing teeth every time it came around, and a couple retries due to the slide coming in uneven (I wasn't turning it as fast as the motor), I finally have the slide in.

Now I can get it on the road and to the shop to get it back to good working order.
