Spare tire mount question?

I have a Zinger 270RL. My spare tire is mounted on a bar on the rear bumper that swings down with the tire on it. Not sure what kind of spare tire mount this is and can see no advantage to the swing down feature any information would be helpful.

My swing down on a previous 5er was to get the tire closer to the ground so you didn't have to lift the tire up to get on and off the holder.

I asked my salesman the same thing. He gave me some kind of answer about being able to get to things, like a bicycle, stored behind it. I don't see that. I think it is just the model of mount they had the best deal on, or had to get rid of.

Ours swings down, too.

Theory in my mind is our friends 26BH Zinger. Waterheater is in back wall of camper, so a swing-down tire mount would be beneficial (although I don't know about tire being that close to WH).

mine used to swing down also until I bolted it solid. . they use these styles if there is a door or water heater ,etc , behind it. ...nothing to do with a bike...where did he think that one up?
company probably got a deal on that style plus the simpleness of only having one style for the installers to put on..

Our past two travel trailers had the swing down spare tire. One of the trailers had a baggage door that went across the back and you needed to drop the tire down to access it. The other one had the electrical cord behind the spare and even though you could still get to the cord behind the tire it just made it easier to access if we folded the tire down.
