Unable to locate source of water leak
2006 Zinger ZT 320 QB
I am at my wits end trying to locate the source of a water leak that is slowly destroying the passenger/curb side rear corner of my trailer. My Zinger has 4 bunks in the back and the curb side has a large door that opens to both the bunk area and then a storage space underneath.
I have significantly caulked the roof, gutter, rear corner, and around the door. I put an extra "lip" at the top of the door, and tightened the latch bracket on the door, so that a nice tight seal has formed on the door gasket.
Still, after a heavy rain, the bottom storage section pools up with water in the rear corner. There has been enough pooling over time that the wood has greatly softened and warped. I can't find any evidence of water damage along any of the walls and there is no indication that it is impacting the main bunk area.
Please let me know if you've encountered the same issue or if you have any other suggestions for me to try. Thanks!

Water will travel inside walls sometimes great distances. It sounds like you have done a lot of investigating and repair. You might try examining the rear tail light assembly and side light assembly. Also look at the upper lights across the back, Ladder mounts, windows.
You might also try spraying the corner area with a garden hose and rain style sprayer. Start low for 10 minutes. Check the inside. Go again for 10 minutes a bit higher - say 1-2' higher. If still dry, go a bit higher. This may isolate where it is leaking.

Check all the marker lights and the tail lights. They are notorious for leaking.

I would venture to say that the leak is coming from another source and following the path of least resistance. I would start caulking anywhere that I thought may need caulk. Also, aluminum skins are like siding and the overlap can actually wick water underneath it if there is a gap. Persistence is the key!! If the trailer is still in great condition and depending on funding, caulk is cheap! Good luck!

So sorry you are having issues. I spoke with our customer service department and they would like to see a photo of the bunk compartment door both open and closed. You can send it to kfuller@crossroadsrv.com
Thanks!

Have also checked all the light assemblies and everything looks fine. I love the idea of spraying the area!!

Sounds like time to take the Rv in for a leak test where they pressurize the inside and use a soap like substance to look for bubbles.

I saw a YouTube video demonstrating how to construct a setup to perform a pressure test like that.

I mentioned one of those companies and gave their web address in post #6 on this thread...

Have used & highly recommend Seal Tech system. Not only find primary leak but discover leaks you may not have noticed yet. Not very time consuming & very inexpensive.
Pm me if you want to discuss further.
