32 FR jack knife sofa issues

We bought a 2012 Crossroads Sunset Trail 32FR. It has the second den/bedroom. Two leather jack knife sofas with bunks above. The jack knife sofas are impossible to sleep on. The backs of the sofa are so much higher than the seats when you fold it down that all night the teenagers are literally sliding off the sofas.

Has anyone tried replacing these and if so, with what? We have four boys. We LOVE the extra space in the den and need four sleeping spaces, but this is ridiculous! I read someone made a frame that goes under the front of the sofa to hold it up while it's down. At this point, I am open to anything! HELP!

You have to be kidding me, the things are made that way. I was sure something was wrong with mine!
