That is to turn on the electrical heating element for the water heater.

No. Lightning bolt symbol is for running water heater on electric, flame symbol is for running on propane. You must select one or the other.

Both can be on for quicker recovery for hot water. Usually used for 4-5 people having showers right after each other. I have used mine like that a few times but mostly it’s just electrical.

You type faster than me but you can use both for faster recovery.

Good point dagst1 and 660catman. Though I never have that problem with mine. The elec. is very slow - but more than sufficient when there are 2 of us. Gas operation provides way more than enough for 4.
