Cargo carrier question

HI, just wondering if anyone has had any luck adding a cargo carrier to the rear bumper? I'd like to have something like this cherokee-grey-wolf-29te-gs7407-ext-028-VL.jpg

My boss has one on the back of his camper. It Hooks into the Reese hitch. Only complaint he has is that it is poor quality. But he loves the extra space just need to buy a better quality one.

I've added one to every camper I've owned. I would suggest to have a qualified welder to add a hitch. Our have to have steel tubing welded to the frame and a reciever added from that.

So yours is welded to the frame rather than the bumper?

Those factory bumpers are very thin, poorly welded & rated to to carry a sewer hose. If adding cargo I'd suggest adding a hitch separate from the bumper or having a heavier bumper fabricated.

Not all of them.

Mine came with a good welding job. Seal welded to the frame. I would hang 500 lbs from it.

Yea I have a friend who's a welder. We welded 1/4" thick tubing across
from frame to frame with the 2" reciever welded to that. I've done that to all of mine except the one I have now and the only reason I haven't yet is we haul my wife's three wheel bike with a custom bumper mount carrier. When she gets tired of the bike I will be adding one to it.

The welds may be good, but the thin metal the bumper is made of won't withstand the vibration of anything attached to the middle portion & WILL break at those good welds. By all means if you're comfortable hanging 500 lbs off of it please do so. Voice of experience spoken here!!!

Redwoods have factory hitchs that are welded to the frame and only have a rating of 300lbs.
