Cold water is hot!

Hello All...We finally got out this weekend for the first time since we bought our unit. I have had several campers over the years, but have never run into the issue of having scalding hot water out of the cold faucet valve...even the toilet. I de-winterized at the site with full hook-up and switched the bypass on the water heater. Turned the electric on for the water heater and after it came up to temp I am getting scalding hot water out of the cold. It does go cold after about a minute. I haven't had a chance to follow all my lines as I spent most the weekend helping my brother-in-law find his water pump. Aerolite put his behind the electrical panel with no access...I have only run into this issue in buildings when the hot and cold faucets are on with a shutoff at the spout. All my faucets are off. Pouring rain all the way home so I have not dug into it...Curious if anyone has run into this and may have a start place for me to look. Hoping all is well with everyone! Thanks

Is it like this at all faucets?
Do you also get hot water out of the hot side or just cold?
Have you looked to see what color the pex pipe running to your kitchen sink faucet is?

I would guess that the by-pass is at fault. Not sure what by-pass you have but there should be a valve or one way check valve between the hot and cold lines. If the valve is open it will allow hot water to bleed into the cold water line. Same thing if the check valve is bad.. Check your by-pass valve between the hot out and cold in and make sure it is turned across not in line with the pipe.

Thanks Guys...pex color is red-blue...get hot out of both sides but cold will get cold after time...there was a bypass valve at the water pump intake to either pump from tank or loose hose to stick into RV anti-freeze jug. then another to bypass the hot water heater. when I had it hooked to the city water hookup and turned the bypass at the water heater it started filling so I didn't look for anything more. Hoping for a dry spell soon to dig further. Again thanks for the help!

1 - on the back of water heater make sure all 2 or 3 ( depending on if you have 2 or 3 valves) valves are oriented in the sam direction...all horizontal for summer or all vertical for winterizing. Remember that one between red and blue pipes need to be shut off,hence horizontal.
2- make sure outside shower is off, not on with the button of the sprayer in the off position.

Ditto what Harley said....read about it while back where someone left their outdoor hot & cold shower taps left open & shower head push button on/off valve in closed position thereby causing hot & cold water to mix, thus possibly get hot water on all taps. Just a thought, takes literally seconds to check and make sure outside shower faucet handles are both turned off.
